Dear Alumni/ae and Well-wishers of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai,
We are pleased to inform you that St. Xavier's College is moving forward to give the lead in Higher Education in India. It is already acknowledged as being one of the best colleges in the country and we think it is possible to move forward to international standards. The College welcomes the participation of Alumni and Well-wishers in its activities, including setting goals and achieving targets.
We present before you a list of areas where YOU can participate and give back to an institution that we know you have been happy to have been associated with:
1. Your expertise in different areas can make a difference to education at Xavier's today. Please offer to come in for guest lectures and other means of participation.
2. A modern library and electronic database is very crucial in this knowledge age. Could you offer resources at your disposal in this area?
3. The Placement of students, already at the graduate level, is becoming important. Please offer contacts with Companies and Organisations you are associated with.
4. Modern Infrastructure and Upgradation of Heritage Resources is an important current need.
We present below some opportunities for Alumni Funding (part funding, group/batch funding, total sponsorship);
a) Air-conditioning of the College Auditorium
b) Renewing the Sound System of the Auditorium: Rs. 20 lakhs
c) Air-conditioning of College Library:
d) Renovation of Chemistry Laboratories: Rs. 40 lakhs
e) Renovation of Microbiology Laboratory: Rs. 25 lakhs
f) Renovation of the College Fr. Fell Gymkhana: Rs. 30 lakhs
5. Supporting Programmes for Faculty and Students:
6. Building a Corpus of Rs. 15 crore in light of Government withdrawal from Higher Education.
These are some of the needs of St. Xavier's in 2007. Your generosity and active participation in College Advancement will make international quality at Xavier's a reality. Donations of any amount above Rs. 1,000/- are welcome and will be acknowledged in the College Magazine and the Xaverian. You could also indicate the purpose for which you would like it to be used. Cheque may be drawn in favour of "The Bombay St. Xavier's College Society". 80G tax exemption is valid upto 31.3.2008
